NPVA New Membership Rules

Effective 1.1.2004
All NPVA member body is to be classified as:

Category 1 – Member

Category 2 – Senior Member

A Senior member has satisfied the NPVA Board that his/her business practices, professionalism, and ethical behavior meet the standards of the organization. Once a member becomes a Senior member, he is expected to consistently meet the requirements; otherwise he will be moved back to Category 1 by executive board vote.

Requirements:

Category 1.

In order to become a member

  1. A yearly membership fee is to be paid.
  2. A code of ethics statement is to be signed.
  3. Current verified place of business, contact information is provided.

Category 2.

In order to become a Senior Member

  1. An established uninterrupted membership of 2 years is required.
  2. There should be no significant complaints received by the NPVA from the member’s customers or business clients and contacts in reference to bad business practices and unethical behavior. In case the complaint is received by the NPVA, the NPVA board will gauge the complaint’s validity, and the member will be given a chance to respond in writing to defend his position. If the complaint is dismissed as invalid, no action is taken.
  3. The member is to attend at least 1 general NPVA meeting in every calendar quarter. Social functions and auctions do not count.
  4. The member is to make at least 2 presentations in 3 years at a general NPVA meeting showing his work, contributing to the newsletter, and educating other members on the matters of his or her specific expertise, talents, and experience.

Above criteria should be met in order to become and maintain membership as a Senior Member. If at least one or more criteria is not met, a warning would be issued. If no prompt action is taken by that member, the Senior Member status is revoked. Some exceptions can be made at the Boards’ discretion, i.e. serving as President or in another position requiring effort and time, can substitute for presentations.

Senior Member Benefits:

  1. A Senior Member certificate is presented on a yearly basis.
  2. Each new Senior member is announced at an NPVA meeting in the same special celebratory manner as VISTA winners.
  3. The NPVA membership listing has a special column with updated membership status.
  4. Each Senior Member will have their own page on the NPVA website with a picture, business digest and bio info.
  5. Senior Members are allowed to use the title in their business cards, website and other promotional materials.
