Each month at our meetings, we provide the opportunity for one of our members to showcase his or her work, and to talk about the process of creating the work we view. Here are excerpts of the videos we watch, along with a videographer (or filmmaker) interview.
OCTOBER 2011 Jamie Podworski, JPod Productions
What do you like best about what you do? I love telling stories. I love to be creative. I love producing films that allow people to relive memories.

Do you prefer ‘videographer’ or ‘filmmaker’? Filmmaker
What are your specialties? We do produce college sports recruiting videos while taking on a few corporate projects each year, but our specialty is the ‘feature film’ wedding. We create 15-30 minute ‘feature films’ that highlight the most important parts of the wedding day. These films are a roller coaster ride throughout a wedding day with slower, romantic portions mixed with higher-energy sections that will never having you fast forwarding your wedding video again.
How long have you been a videographer/filmmaker? I have been a professional videographer/filmmaker since 1994. I started as a videographer at WWLP-22News, the NBC-affiliate in Springfield, MA. After ten years in varying positions at the station, I opened JPod Productions as a full-time venture in 2005.
Why did you choose videography as a career? When I began in television, I got the opportunity to cover a variety of sporting events from local sports right up to the Super Bowl. Not a bad lifestyle for a 20-something year-old bachelor, huh. I enjoyed my ten years in television, but I knew that I needed a lifestyle change when marriage and children were on the horizon. Thus, the inception of JPod Productions.
What advice do you have for people looking for a wedding/corporate videographer? I would tell them that price matters. You don’t have to find the highest price point, but the bettered paid companies provide invaluable experience and expertise in our field. Also, make sure to look at an entire end product. Do not be “wowed” by a highlight or demo. Be an educated consumer by finding out what you will be getting at the end of the filming process
